How To Enable Telnet In Windows 7 using the Command Prompt (CMD). In the oldWindows Telnet easy to do, just type in the command prompt only. Apparently in Windows7 or not so different. Although still there, Telnet Client and Telnet Server is not active whenWindows is installed. But it can be activated via the command Command Prompt (CMD).How do I enable it?
Here's how to enable the Telnet Client and Telnet Server in Windows 7.
A. Open the Command Prompt via the start button and type "cmd".
2. Type the following command:
pkgmgr / iu: "TelnetClient" (to enable the Telnet Client)
pkgmgr / iu: "TelnetServer" (to enable the Telnet Server)
An alternative way to enable the Telnet Client and Telnet Server in Windows 7:
A. Click on the Start button and type "appwiz" in the search box.
2. Click Turn Windows features On or Off from the right panel.
3. Find Telnet Server and Telnet Client, and then check the box next to it.
4. Click OK and restart the computer if needed.
